New member here - Louisiana anyone?

From: Kelly (knsurace@gmail.com) | Date: 2007-06-10 17:34:12 UTC
Hi guys! I'm new here and just digging into this awesome thing called
letterboxing! My husband and I are planning a roadtrip around
louisiana to find some of the boxes that have been planted in our
area. We are also hoping to plant some of our own during our trip!

I was just wondering if there are any other Louisiana letterboxers out
there? We are very new to this (haven't found our first box yet..just
working on our signature stamps right now!) and we were just curious
about finding people in our area. :)

I'm off now to read more and get more addicted. :) Thanks for replying! :)

-Kelly

Hurricane Katrina temporarily derailed Louisiana boxers, but a few are
making a comeback and can be found on the Louisiana/Mississippi List:

Oh which ones did you adopt?! We are looking to go to through that
area for our roadtrip. :) Any one box you specifically love? :)

If you are specifically interested in NW La, you might try getting in touch
with The Purple Ladybug. She's local (in Shreveport, I think). I think her
box is called Neon Lights and you could email her through her contact
information there.

Thanks so much for that information! I'm interested in ALL of
louisiana letterboxes, but since hubby and I are planning on traveling
to the Shreveport area soon I thought I would def. look up the ones on
our route from Baton Rouge. :) I will contact The purple ladybug for
more information. :)

rhapsdy (i've picked my official trail name!)

I don't want to rain on your parade, but before you get too far along
in your planning, most letterboxers would recommend that you find a
20 or 30 or 40 or 50 letterboxes -- and try but fail to find a few
more -- before you start planting your own. Even if you read as much
as you can about letterboxing, it's really hard for many beginners to
grasp the nuances of what makes a good hiding place, the importance
of using quality waterproof containers and baggies, how nice it is to
find a hand-crafted journal and hand-carved stamp in a letterbox, how
frustrating it is to try to find a letterbox with poorly-written
clues, how very satisfying it is to find a mystery box. All these
things you'll only learn as you letterbox.

I hope you enjoy letterboxing.
